Changes to signature functionality

I've had to make some changes to signature functionality. The previous functionality had some subtle problems, which combined with the continuously increasing user numbers lead to instability of the whole NoobMeter.com website at times. During this and last week I've tried to resolve it, but without success.

Therefore I made the decision to change the whole approach to generating and serving signatures to offload the server.

There are some side effects - signatures will be updated on a nightly basis and only for registered users for the main account linked. Also, the "unofficial colour customization features" no longer work. I need to think about how to add them back properly - I would have liked to do it before making the change, but having the server having issues nearly every day, even if only for some minutes, is something I felt is a bigger problem.

In the end, I expect this change to lead to a more stable NoobMeter.com server.

  1. Hi!

This is off-topic because I cannot find another way to contact you with a suggestion. I hope you dont mind.

    Question/suggestion:
Is there any possibility to see a players performance per map? It would be very useful to know what maps I need to rethink the tactics on and which maps works well as it is.

  2. Unfortunately I don't have a way to implement it; there is not enough data.

  4. I have suggestion. Can we please cache the server region in between visits? I'm NA and I always forget to set it back to proper region.

  5. Rabbit, a valid suggestion, but I'm curious - what locale do you use? Because for en-US it should default to NA server anyway. Just wondering if that functionality is broken, or maybe you're using some other language setting.

Try http://pgl.yoyo.org/http/browser-headers.php and check what it says under Accept-Language .

  7. OK, and to confirm - you are a NA server player, and the dropdown box shows you some other server when you return to NoobMeter? What does it show?

    Or have I misunderstood?

    1. Yes, that's correct. I'm NA player but Noobmeter thinks I'm EU player because that's server it defaults to. This behavior is also same (defaulting to EU) on my iPad and it only sends over "Accept-Language: en-US"

    2. Very strange, the en-US should make it default to NA.

What happens if you click on the US flag and then try it again? As the language used is actually cached in a cookie - so maybe you have clicked on the British flag then it has cached en-GB as the language, and thus would default to EU?

    3. I'm with Rabbit on this - I'm in the US but this site always defaults to EU.

  8. Wold you be interested in adding an interactive chart to the site? I was thinking of the global distribution of performance rating, updated daily from the server. Then plugging in a specific name would draw a spike on the distribution indicating where that player rates compared to everyone else.

I've made interactive charts like that before, but I'm not sure if it would scale to something this big. Let me know if you're interested and we can talk about it. I wouldn't do it for money -- just for fun.

  9. Sure, I'm interested. Seems like a very nice idea.

Can you contact me either by e-mail at for_squinto at noobmeter.com or on the forums, nickname NoobMeter, to discuss further?

    1. You could try the Login/Register and link your WG account - then it will update every night.

  12. Could you add a feature to show my performance by tank over time, especially recently (say every week or 20 games, etc.)? I want to see how much I improve with individual tanks over time.
